PREREQUISITES:
Knowledge of the basic notions and principles
of national law and basic knowledge of French or English are required.
PROGRAMME:
The course is divided in two parts, a general
and a special one.
General part: history of international law, subjects
of international law, sources of law, implementation and enforcement of
international law, international law and domestic law, international liability
of States, basic notions of international criminal law.
Special part: structure, acts and functions of
the United Nations.
Full knowledge is required of the Charter of
the United Nations, the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, the Statute
of the International Court of Justice and the European Convention on the
Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the NATO Treaty, the
Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
Both on the general and the special part, exercises
and seminars dealing with specific topics will take place.
ASSESSMENT METHOD:
The exam will be oral. Attending students are
invited to take one or more written tests during the course.
